In cooperation with the Christoph Merian Foundation (Atelier Mondial), Basel, Switzerland, the Cultural Office of the City of Freiburg in Breisgau, Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany, Foundation KulturDialog Armenien will start a new, six-months artists’ exchange program. The program’s main objectives are to develop intercultural relations between the cities Basel (Switzerland), Freiburg in Breisgau (Germany) and Yerevan (Armenia) on a comprehensive cultural level, to establish mutual artistic contacts and create favorable conditions for artistic exchange between those three countries.

Participating artists from those countries will be given the opportunity to get to know a new art scene, a new audience and a new culture and to express those influences in their work. The artists will live and work in one of the cities mentioned above for 6 months and they will have the possibility to present their work in a solo exhibition at the end of their stay.

The Armenian Arman Vahanyan (KulturDialog Armenien) will be the first artist to participate in this program: He will be hosted by the City of Freiburg from January 15th to July 15, 2016. He will live at the ‘Städtische Kunsthaus L6’ in Freiburg in Breisgau (Germany) and will be able to word at the city’s professional printing as well as painting studio. The works he will have created in those 6 months will be presented to the German audience at his solo exhibition at the end of his stay (june/July 2016) at the premises of ‘Kulturwerk T66’ (Berufsverbands bildender Künstlerinnen und Künstler in Südbaden i.e. Artists’ Union of South Baden).

Foundation KulturDialog Armenien is already looking forward to welcoming the second participant of the program, the Swiss artist Silas Heinzmann as artist-in-residence in Yerevan (Armenia) starting in July 2016.
