Continuation of the new international artists’ exchange program between Armenia, Switzerland and Germany: The Suisse artist Silas Heizmann will be artist-in-residence in Yerevan (Armenia) as of July 4th, 2016

After the six months stay of the Armenian artist Arman Vahanyan’s (KulturDialog Armenien) as artist-in-residence in Freiburg in Breisgau, Germany, Foundation KulturDialog Armenien will continue its new, international artists’ exchange program in cooperation with Christoph Merian Foundation (Atelier Mondial), Basel, Switzerland, and the Cultural Affairs Office of the City of Freiburg in Breisgau, Germany. Starting July 4th, 2016, KulturDialog Armenien will in return welcome the Suisse artist Silas Heizmann as the program’s second participant and as the program’s first artist-in-residence in Yerevan, Armenia. He will be hosted by KulturDialog Armenien and he will live at Yerevan’s Mkhitar Sebastatsi Educomplex (Մխիթար Սեբաստացի կրթահամալիր). There, he will be given the possibility to make use of all of the studios, various workshops and institutions of this unique art school for his work.

The art works Silas Heizmann will create during those six months in Yerevan will be presented to the Armenian audience in a solo exhibition at the end of his stay at NPAK (Armenian Centre of Contemporary and Experimental Art) in Yerevan, Armenia, starting November 29th, 2016.

The program’s main objectives are to develop intercultural relations between the cities of Basel (Switzerland), Freiburg in Breisgau (Germany) and Yerevan (Armenia) on a comprehensive cultural level, to establish mutual artistic contacts and create favorable conditions for artistic exchange between those three countries.

Participating artists from those countries will be given the opportunity to get to know a new art scene, a new audience and a new culture and to express those influences in their work. The artists will live and work in one of the cities mentioned above for a period of six months and they will have the possibility to present their work in a solo exhibition at the end of their stay.
