Direction and organization of the international conference “Christianity. Nation. Civilization“ in Yerevan, Armenia. Accompanied the international art workshop “Time and Space“, in the context of the international Art Festival “Crossing Borders“.
pr-previewKulturDialog Armenien and the Museums of The Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin of the Republic of Armenia presented the conference entitled „Christianity.People.Civilization“ and the fine arts workshop „Time and Space“ as part of the international arts festival „Crossing Borders“ which will take place in Yerevan from 22. – 28. September 2014.
This festival, then called „Crossing Borders“, was part of the conference’s programm in 2013 and started off as a cooperation of the Bonn Cultural Office at the „Künstlerforum Bonn“. At the time, artists from countries such as Armenia, Austria, Germany, and Iceland participated in the artistic festival. KulturDialog Armenien managed for the Armenian artist Tigran Sahakyan to represent the Republic of Armenia. The results of the artistic cooperation were presented to the audience in Bonn and were met with great interest. The President of KulturDialog Armenien, Mrs. Sona Harutyunyan, and Archbishiop Asoghik Karapetyan (Director of the Museums and Archives of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin) had both been invited to contribute to the international conference „Kultur.Stadt.Religion“ with a lecture, corresponding to their field of experience.
Thanks to the positive response at the time and on the initiative of KulturDialog Armenien, this conference was continued in Armenia in fall 2014. This proposal was met with great enthusiasm by last year’s participants, who agreed to come to Armenia.
Consequently, besides the lectures and talks provided by the international participants for the conference, “KulturDialog Armenien” initiated in the NPAK/ACCEA (Armenian Center for Contemporary Experimental Art) to host the fine arts workshop „Time and Space“. The artists who will participate in the workshop are Hamlet Havsepyan, Tigran Sahakyan, Ashot Grigoryan and Harutyun Chqolyan (Yerevan, Armenia), Johanna Binder, Martina Stock, Tamara Volgger and Christian Schratt (Salzburg, Austria), Jürgen Middelmann and Yuriy Ivashkevich (Bonn, Germany), and Rosa Gisladottir (Reykjavik, Iceland).
During four days, the artists worked in the NPAK/ACCEA (Armenian Center for Contemporary Experiemental Art) and was given the chance to present their works personally in the local “The Club”. As a final event, the NPAK/ACCEA organized a grand opening ceremony for a joint exhibition of the works of all participating artists in its premises in Yerevan on September 26th.
