Foundation KulturDialog Armenien presents the solo exhibition “There Will Be no Slow Motion or Still Life” by the Swiss artist Silas Heizmann at NPAK, Yerevan, Armenia, on November 29th, 2016, at 5 p.m.
ex-previewThe Swiss artist Silas Heizmann (Atelier Mondial) is the second artist of the international artists’ exchange program initiated by Foundation KulturDialog Armenien and organized in cooperation with Christoph Merian Stiftung Basel (Atelier Mondial), Switzerland, and the Cultural Office of the City of Freiburg in Breisgau, Germany. Starting in July, Heizmann spends 6 months as artist-in-residence in Yerevan, Armenia. In his solo exhibition “There Will Be no Slow Motion or Still Life” at NPAK (Armenian Center for Contemporary Experimental Art) in Yerevan he will present art works he created during his stay in Armenia.
Heizmann is inspired by the urban environment surrounding him, by architecture, by social and cultural structures, and their potential to cause protest and changes in society. The way those aspects are presented and interpreted is of special interest to Heizmann as his generation grew up with new media and free, unlimited access to information which often differs from traditional media reports.
In his first solo exhibition in Yerevan “There Will Be no Slow Motion or Still Life” (29.11.-15.12.2016), the freelance artist from Basel reflects upon the way political and social events are presented in public media compared to globally accessible internet media. He combines the genre of still life with video installations in order to point at interpretative discrepancies and to question the chance of social and political change.
Foundation KulturDialog Armenien, represented by its general manager Sona Hovsepyan, is honoured to welcome Lukas Gasser, the Swiss Ambassador to Armenia, to the exhibition opening which will take place at NPAK, Yerevan, Armenia, on November 29th, 2016 at 5 pm. The Embassy of Switzerland in Armenia generously supports the solo exhibition of the Swiss artist Silas Heizmann who will be present at the opening of the exhibition.
