Exhibition of the project “Simulacrum“ of the artist Narek Avetisyan at Galeria Gardzienice in Lublin, Poland in the context of “East of Culture – Different Sounds Art’n Music Festival“. Presentation of modern Armenian films at “New Voices in Armenian Cinema“.
pr-previewAt the invitation of the “East of Culture – Different Sounds Art’n Music Festival” at Lublin, Poland, was held July 8th – 23rd, 2014, “KulturDialog Armenien” Organization presented the project “Simulacrum” by the Armenian Artist Narek Avetisyan at the local “Galeria Gardzienice” and also presented modern Armenian movies “New Voices in Armenian Cinema” as part of the program at the gallery’s exhibition hall.
In order to give the audience an insight in contemporary Armenian art, KulturDialog Armenien’s board member and museologist Tatev Saroyan gave a lecture on “New Armenian Art – Horizontal Landscape”.
All in all, the festival in Lublin was the 8th venue for the “Simulacrum” Project . Before, it has been presented already in 3 exhibitions in Yerevan, Armenia (in Yerevan at the ACCEA “NPAK” – Armenian Centre for Contemporary Experimental Art), at the “Academy” gallery, and at the United Nations DP Country office, all in 2011) and in 4 international exhibitions (at the International Art Salon “artbygenève” in Geneva, Switzerland (2011), at the “Zamek Królewski w Warszawie“ (The Royal Palace), Warsaw, Poland (2013), at “InteriorDasein” Gallery, Berlin, Germany (2013), and at “Muzeum Narodowe w Szczecinie” (National Gallery), Szczecin, Poland (2013).
On the occasion of the festival “East of Culture – Different Sounds Art’n Music”, the Armenian artist Narek Avetisyan met the Polish artist Waldemar Tatarczuk. The two artists already met in 1992 and now took advantage of the festival to create a performance entitled “22 Years later”. This artists’ performance was recorded on video and will be presented to the Armenian public on Avetisyan’s return to Yerevan.
The artists participated in the festival “East of Culture – Different Sounds Art’n Music” came from 11 countries: Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belorussia, Georgia, Israel, Moldavia, Poland, Russia, the UK, Ukraine, and the US.
