The Embassy of Switzerland in Armenia and Foundation KulturDialog Armenien, with the generous support of ArmSwissBank will present the exhibition “15 Points of View” with works by the Swiss artist Felice Varini at the “Hay Art” cultural center in Yerevan, Armenia, from May 3rd to 13th, 2016.
Felice Varini (b. 1952) has been exploring architectural space with art works for over twenty years. His sensitive interventions into those spaces have fascinated observers all over the world, as his work turns seeing into a real experience.
Varini takes enclosed spaces or the urban environment and arranges geometric, abstract installations in them. Those formal organizations might be not comprehensible at first glance. But, suddenly, they concentrate the viewers’ glance at a single point, the “point of view”, exploring the features of the specific architectural building.
Thanks to the exhibition “15 Points of View” the Armenian audience will be given the chance to gain an insight into a peculiar point of view, which is aimed to combine contemporary art and architectural space.
The Swiss artist Felice Varini will participate in two art talks in Yerevan, which will take place at the “Tumo” Center for Creative Technologies, on May 2nd at 7 pm and at “Mirzoyan” Library, on May 4th at 7 pm.
The Embassy of Switzerland in Armenia and Foundation KulturDialog Armenien will present this project within the context of the “Francophonie” days in Armenia.
“15 Points of View” is the title of this exhibition imagined for Hay Art Cultural Center, based in Yerevan. It includes a selection of fifteen pictures, always taken from the reference vantage point of each work in situ. This selection is conceived as a photographic documentary of my pictorial practice, which applies painting into the real world from one site to another taking advantage of the diversity of spatial and architectural characteristics. These fifteen art works have been realized during the past twenty years.
The choice of this picture selection is purely intuitive, but nonetheless highlights the different aspects of sites and approaches of my pictorial practice…
