“Returning to the Present”, Tigran Kirakosyan – Bonn, Germany

In cooperation with “Kurfürstliches Gärtnerhaus Bonn“, Foundation KulturDialog Armenien will present the exhibition “Tigran Kirakosyan: Rückkehr zur Gegenwart“ (Tigran Kirakosyan: Returning to the Present“ at the “Kurfürstliches Gärtnerhaus Bonn“ from April 17th to May 5th, 2016. The Armenian artist Tigran Kirakosyan (Foundation KulturDialog Armenien) was selected from a large number of candidates by the committee of the Kurfürstliches Gärtnerhaus Bonn to present 16 monotypes and one of his dry point etchings in this exclusive personal exhibition.
In his large format monotypes, Tigran Kirakosyan (*1983) argues the way we commemorate historical events, the past and how the artist may deal with his very personal artistic point of view in present times. Kirakosyan questions himself as an artist, and he perceives the present as a necessity to assimilate impressions. It is an invitation to critically reflect upon your own history and to gain an insight into an outstanding example of present contemporary, Armenian art.
Thanks to Foundation KulturDialog Armenien, this is Kirakosyan’s third exhibition outside of Armenia and the second personal exhibition in Germany: “Striding Imprints: Tigran Sahakyan, Arman Vahanyan and Tigran Kirakosyan in Tallinn” (National Library of Estonia, Tallinn, Estonia, 2014) and “Voices of the Past” (Fine Arts Museum Moritzburg, Halle, Germany, 2015).
After the 1. International Festival “Crossing Borders” in Bonn, Germany, in 2013, the 2. International Festival “Crossing Borders” in Yerevan, Armenia, in 2014 and the exhibition “All Together Now” at Künstlerforum Bonn, Germany, in November 2015, the exhibition “Tigran Kirakosyan: Returning to the Present” is the fourth cooperation of Foundation KulturDialog Armenien with the city of Bonn and its cultural institutions.
