“Voices of the Past”, Tigran Kirakosyan – Halle (Saale), Germany

On the initiative of Foundation KulturDialog Armenien and in cooperation with the Fine Arts Museum Moritzburg in Halle (Saale) in Saxony-Anhalt (Germany), the Cultural Ministry of the county of Saxony-Anhalt and thanks to the support of the City of Halle, a new ‘Artist-in-Residence program’ started on March 2, 2015.

This exchange program allowed the Armenian artist Tigran Kirakosyan, as the program’s first candidate, to come to Halle (Saale) and to work in the painting and graphic studios of Halle’s Fine Arts Academy “Burg Giebichenstein” for 10 weeks until May 10th, 2015. Principal subject for his work was this year’s centenary commemoration of the Armenian Genocide. The exhibition of Kirakosyan’s works ”Voices of the Past” opened in the presence of the artist on May 11th, 2015 at 5 pm in the Fine Arts Museum Moritzburg in Halle (Saale), Germany.

Cultural Minister of Saxony-Anhalt, Stefan Dorgerloh, was present for the vernissage and he was thus officially represent the county in its commemoration of the Genocide and appreciated its contemporary expression in works of art. The President of Foundation KulturDialog Armenien, Sona Harutyunyan, also came to Germany to assist the opening of the exhibition and see the results of this first artistic exchange.
